Dr. Wang has been engaged in professional psychological counseling for nearly 30 years. He created Zhi Mian Therapy—an indigenous approach to psychotherapy in China. In recent two decades, he has been in collaboration with international existential psychologists and therapists (Louis Hoffman, Kirk Schneider, Erik Craig, Emmy van Deurzen, Ernesto Spinelli, etc) in promoting East-West dialogue and joint research. He has published papers in world existential and humanistic psychology journals (USA, UK, Russia), and contributed to Wiley
World Handbook on Existential Therapy(Ed. Emmy van Deurzen
et al.)and APA World Handbook of Existential-Humanistic Psychology(Ed. Louis Hoffman et al.). He has been the editorial board member of the Journal of Humanistic Psychology and the Pastoral Psychology. He is also the Chinese translator of Irvin D. Yalom: On Psychotherapy and the Human Condition by Ruthellen Josselson. He is introduced at the international scene as “the Rollo May of China.”​
